Our journey so far!

Sorry it has been a while since we last updated but our connection to the wifi has been very poor!

Since our last post we have been busy girls. We went to visit some rural schools last Wednesday where the second year students were out on their teaching practice. The poor students didn't know that the lecturer was coming and that they were having their observed lesson that day... We thought they coped really well.

Then on Thursday we were invited to join a staff workshop for the lecturers at the Teaching College and we all enjoyed learning about their learning and teaching strategies that they were teaching their students to use out in schools.

On our last night at Matchinga we were asked to do a presentation to the 300 students and staff. At the presentation they performed an fertility dance and other traditional African dances so we entertained them with the Gay Gordon's!

During the last 3 days in Malawi poor Rebecca became really unwell and was such a brave soldier, especially considering our lack of water and toilet facilities.

However at the weekend we were lucky enough to visit MVUU Safari Camp and were blown away with the beautiful surroundings and by the amazing animals that we saw.

We then travelled to Blantyre on the Sunday afternoon and settled ourselves into Kabula lodge. That evening we met with MLOL and organised which schools we would be visiting.

This week we have all been visiting our schools, getting to know the children and staff, shadowing our teacher and observing learning in Malawian classrooms.

There are so many stories for us to tell in relation to each experience we have encountered... I have no doubt we will all be Malawi bores when we come home.

Hopefully we will be back on soon to update you all on our amazing journey X

We arrived in Malawi on Monday afternoon and headed straight to the shops in Blantyre where we bumped in to the MLOL teachers standing outside!! It was great to see some familiar faces :-)

Directly after that we headed to Machinga Teacher Training College where we received a warm welcome from all of the staff and students there. We have mirrored students lives during our stay, attending classes and joining in with the lecturers workshops.

Today we are heading out to the nearest village and tomorrow we are going to visit second year students out in placement schools.

David Livingston

Today Caitlin and Katie visited the David Livingstone Centre in Blantyre (Scotland). We learned a lot about Livingstone's life which we were pretty clueless about!
